Kubernetes is best understood less as a container launcher and more as a collection of feedback loops. Controllers observe actual state, compare it to desired state, and take action to reduce the gap.

Connected Knowledge

Concept

Distributed Systems

A distributed system is a system made of independent components that communicate over a network to behave like one useful whole.

Concept

Observability

Observability is the practice of designing systems so operators can ask useful questions about behavior after the system is running.

Technology

Containers

A container packages an application process with its filesystem and runtime assumptions while sharing the host kernel.

Mental Model

Feedback Loops

A model for seeing how systems observe state, react, and sometimes amplify the conditions they are trying to correct.
